Are you constantly tired with no apparent cause? Do you get recurrent colds and flu that take forever to go away? Are you chemically or electrically sensitive? Would you like to build a healthy home? Then you should consider getting a building biologist to find out if your house or workplace is causing your problem! The following consultants have achieved the Advanced Diploma of Building Biology, and work independently of the college. We suggest you contact them personally.

ACES has been delivering a nationally accredited course in Building Biology since 2005. The course took several years to write involving numerous experts in the fields of electromagnetic fields, industrial hygiene, building and construction, architecture, mould remediation, allied health, heating ventilation and air conditioning and geomancy. The founder and CEO - Nicole Bijlsma, is a bestselling author, with extensive media experience, who conducts lectures primarily at medical conferences in environmental medicine both in Australia and internationally, and is currently undertaking her PhD in environmental chemical exposures.

  1. Our course is specifically geared to working as a professional consultant. Students learn the legislative framework that govern testing requirements for chemical, gas and mould sampling; obtain a good understanding of the materials used in housing construction and their impact on the indoor air mass and electroclimate of the home, and learn how to create healthy homes taking into consideration the incredibly diverse and varied climate zones across the Australian continent. The training provided by ACES has been recognised in a court of law with several of our graduates used as expert witnesses in court.

  2. Our students are competent to identify, test and address the health hazards in a building. Competence can only be achieved when one is required to undergo extensive practical and theoretical assessments - a requirement vital for a course to be nationally recognised by the Australian government. Assessments in the course include the development of questionnaires, checklists, assignments, essays and reports which provides the necessary templates to work in the industry. These assessments have been formulated in collaboration with industry (ASBB) to ensure that our graduates have the knowledge and the skills to be able to work as competent building biologists which is why we attract students from all over the world.

  3. Graduates are eligible to join the Australasian Society of Building Biologists (ASBB). The college works closely with the Association to ensure that the knowledge and skills required to work as a building biologist are current and up to date. ACES graduates become part of an active and vibrant association whose aim is to promote the awareness of building biology in Australia, provide reasonable insurance premiums and most importantly, keep building biologists abreast of the latest scientific news pertaining to electromagnetic fields, indoor air quality, allergens, mould and drinking water related issues.

  4. ACES actively promotes your business. Since the publication of her best seller - Healthy Home Healthy Family - in 2012, Nicole Bijlsma (CEO of ACES) is regularly consulted by the media to discuss the health hazards in the built environment. Nicole is a popular speaker who has been interviewed on every major television network, conducted numerous radio interviews and podcasts and her works have been published in a variety of online and print publications. In 2015, Nicole had a column in Body+Soul (Newscorp) which had a readership in excess of 2 million people, and speaks at medical conferences both in Australia and abroad. She is currently undertaking her Masters in Environmental Chemical assessment. As a result of her profile, the awareness and demand for building biologists who have studied through ACES continues to grow.
